I agree, but the part where you say that Moroccan society is likely impervious to fragmentation along sectarian lines receives cynicism from me. I have met some compatriots whom I would regard as hardcore Arab nationalists, the type of people who are not even prepared to allow Imazighen their natural place in history, let alone a constitutional presence in the present; instead, they only seem to feel an imperative to be devious and manipulative when approaching the advancing Amazigh question. Such people represent a surface with which we Moroccans must inevitably collide with, and rightfully reduce to shards. The national ramifications of this collision will depend upon how much of a following these foreign-nationalists have in the general population. From what I gather and hope, this support is merely at the intensity of lip service (outside of a small section of the elite that is).
The solution sings in our self-precipitated alienation from the Middle East, as it was before the Phonecians told us about this depraved region. It is better that way because within the Arab ideologies (secular and religious) is programmed our eternal peripheral status and subordinate role in an empire/culture that has its centre in west Asia, under the thrones of a Asiatic rulers. Some people, in response to my opinion, will just blurt out, we are Arab and Muslim, thinking they are checking my great insight. I would just urge them to consider what is the best location for our people: The periphery (of Arab nationalism), or the centre (of a Moroccan/Maghreb based nationalism/loyalty).

Look at America! I yearn for the same social engineering/coincidence that took America from the hands of a batch of mad Christian pilgrims and into the hands of the progressive, objective realistic people that direct it today.

I think you are confusing identity with nationality. It's true Nationality is defined when you share space and government, but identity has different values that define it. I share Islam with Pakistan but we don't have the same identity. I don't share space with Algeria but we may have the same identity. History and culture could be some of the values of the identity. We don't have to speak the same dialect to have the same identity, however, when our TV and government speak 60% in French, our new generation wear and sing in a strange way (rap), then I am loosing my identity
